Responsible Gambling Advisory Committee
The Responsible Gambling Advisory Committee (RGAC) is the cornerstone of Queensland’s responsible gambling strategy. The Committee provides a forum for the community, gambling industry and State Government to work together to develop ethical and responsible approaches to gambling.
The Committee is an advisory body of the Queensland Government on responsible gambling-related issues. It provides expert strategic advice to the Queensland Government on how to minimise the negative impacts of gambling on Queenslanders.
Advice to the Treasurer
Established informally in 1994, the RGAC provides advice to the Queensland Treasurer on emerging social and economic issues associated with gambling. The Committee provides advice on issues including:
-
initiatives to ensure a socially responsible gambling industry,
-
a comprehensive framework for programs focussing on prevention,
-
community protection and rehabilitation and research priorities.
A Co-operative Forum
The Committee is a forum for the exchange of information and views between community groups, the gambling industry and the Queensland Government. Working partnerships between these groups are promoted and monitored to encourage a co-operative environment. Cultural diversity and regional differences across Queensland are also taken into account.
Members
Members are drawn from community organisations, the gambling industry and relevant government agencies.
